Presque Isle Heritage Museum Cottage.
The Presque Isle Society museum is actually a 1920’s cottage similar to the company homes provided by the Vilas County Lumber Company to their workers. It was moved to the site of the Civil Town of Presque Isle School in early 2000. Volunteers and members of the Heritage Society settled it on a new foundation. They furnished it with artifacts from the lumbering era and landscaped the grounds, including a “Kitchen Garden” alongside the building, as was common in the early 1920’s.
Note: Museum Cottage is painted green with white trim, the same color as the Vilas County Lumber Company buildings and Company Homes.
And, nice vintage Craftsman-inspired diamond pattern leaded windows.
